Google Home is still in its nascent stages, trying to make a mark for itself in the world of digital voice assistants. However, despite its babyhood in the field, it has an arsenal of tricks that it can pull off. Quite like its peers, Google Home can play you music on-demand. Initially, Google Home’s music playing capacities were extremely limited. You could only play music if you had subscribed to a premium version of Google Play Music or Spotify. Gradually, it extended its purview to Deezer and Spotify Free for customers based in Australia, France, UK, Germany, Canada and the US. Further, Google Home added a feature to play Bluetooth media over paired devices.

1.    Create a Google Play Music playlist

While the Google Play Music app is free, you cannot play music on your Google Home if you do not have a paid subscription to its services. You may purchase one or two stray songs here and there, but Google Home would still need that subscription. However, what Google Home can play is playlists. Thus, the workaround for this would be to create a playlist. Unfortunately, Google Home also has no control over the music being played – you can only skip or pause a song. Create a playlist, add songs to it, and ask Google Home to play it for you.

2.    Cast Music over Google Home

Before Bluetooth support, Google Home offered casting audio files. This feature is only available if your phone also allows casting. You can see if your phone is compatible by checking out the “Cast” icon in your notification tray.

Tap on Cast and select your Google Home device, the music that you play will be cast over the Google Home.

3.    Play Music over the Radio

The major respite that Google Home offers in this scenario is that it allows the user to stream music over the radio. You could choose from an array of online radios, including Capital FM and BBC, to play music over your Google Home.
